Utopian wins at SIBA BeerX Awards

Following on from the incredible victory in the Keg Premium Lager category at the SW region of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) Awards, the Utopian team headed to Liverpool and to the prestigious BeerX exhibition to compete in the national finals. We are delighted to announce that the unfiltered lager was recognised with a bronze award in the Keg Premium Lager & Pilsner category, from which the gold medallist went on to win the overall title showing the strength of the category. Competing against many breweries who have been trading for years was a huge challenge and so to come away with an award less than a year into trading is an exciting achievement for the team. Founder and Managing Director, Richard Archer,  had this to say on the evening;

‘It has been a privilege to be able to represent the South-West at BeerX and to compete against some of the finest independent brewers in the world. I am so proud of the team for achieving a bronze medal as this is testament to the incredible work that Jeremy, our Head Brewer, and his team have been putting in. This is a really exciting time for craft lager and we are delighted that Utopian lager has been recognised as one of the finest in the country.’

SIBA Competitions Chair Guy Sheppard, a brewer himself at Exe Valley in the South West, congratulated the winners on their huge achievement:

“The SIBA Independent Beer Awards 2020 were our biggest ever, and with an incredibly high standard of beer across the board.
